February 4th marks World Cancer Day, a day dedicated to raising global awareness of the impact of cancer. This year, the focus is on life beyond cancer—because whether you are a patient yourself or supporting a loved one, the effects of cancer on daily life cannot be underestimated. Every day, over 30,000 patients benefit from the medical isotopes produced by NRG PALLAS in the reactor.
Beyond isotope production, we also collaborate with medical professionals to develop new applications for even better cancer care. On World Cancer Day, we take a moment to highlight how Doj, one of our colleagues at NRG PALLAS, contributes to this mission.
30.000 patients per day
Doj works with great dedication as a Reactor Operator, ensuring the production of medical isotopes. For him, it is essential that his work has real meaning. "It’s great to have a story to tell about the impact of our work. Knowing that we help 30,000 patients every day makes a real difference," says Doj in the video below.
Ready for the future
As a Reactor Operator, Doj is enthusiastic about what the future holds. Work is currently underway to build the new PALLAS reactor, which will replace the current reactor. "I’m really looking forward to learning all about the new facility," Doj shares. "It’s a great development for the region and for the medical field. We will continue helping people, and that’s a truly positive thing."
Doj is one of many dedicated professionals at NRG PALLAS, working across locations in Petten, Alkmaar, and Arnhem. Every day, they contribute to medical isotope production, cutting-edge research, and much more. These isotopes are essential for diagnosing and treating various types of cancer and cardiovascular diseases, both in the Netherlands and worldwide.
